Modelling
Become a Life Model
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Life Models' Society (LMS),
keep your eye on our
Facebook page.
Workshops are run at regular intervals during the year, however registration
is essential. As a volunteer organisation, it is not always possible to meet
demand. As such you can expect a bit of mucking around at times due to our
work, family, life commitments. It really is worth it though, so do work with
us on joining our public group, watch for workshops, get to know us and what
we do a little first. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen if this
is something you want to do.
These are generally conducted four times a year (during the school Holidays)
at the Princess Hill Community Centre,
which is located at the rear of 270 Macpherson St, North Carlton.
The potential models are tutored by very experienced life models who will show them through various poses; explaining what to expect at a modelling session for artists. The workshops are a very good way to develop one's physicality and to get all the good oil on what to do in front of your audience (which is usually made up of very grateful artists).
All the good, the bad, and the slightly awkward issues are covered here and will conclude with potential models ready to go out and get work within the art world. Some of the potential models are asked to work in the LMS salons, so artists can experience drawing models on the LMS list.
Also available is some background information about life modelling. There is a modest cost involved in these workshops. The exact fee will be discussed with potential models on a case by case basis. Concessions are available.
